Cutting its teeth back in 2005 as a fashion label, The Vallentine Project successfully produced a number of fashion collections before moving into homewares. These images are from the fashion vault.
Shot in 2007 by Penny Lane Photography in secret succulent filled garden just near Cottesloe Beach, Western Australia, the day seemed to be a fine, yet windy day. Sheltered from the wind, the team worked hard to capture the evocative images featuring artist Jodee Knowles in scalloped cut tops in layers of patch worked colour.
Within an hour of shooting it was clear that this was to be no ordinary day. Without much warning a huge wet, blustery storm swept through and saw us all scrambling for photography equipment as we piled into cars.
Despite the weather, the photos turned out spectacularly and later went on to win a place within the annual fashion event Styleaid (2007). Styleaid is a well attended fashion event aimed at raising awareness and funds for AIDS research.
